Rescue, Don Moen

We are all beset by various fears and troubles at times. As a nurse years ago, some of the patients that would come into the surgical suite would be quite anxious. It provided me an opportune time to gird up their hearts with a gentle word and, occasionally, a prayer in the name of Jesus. No one ever took offense. It was evident in their eyes that it brought them comfort and peace for the scary procedure ahead. They knew there was One in charge greater than the surgeon that day. Just "cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5-7

"And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

Lyrics:
You are the source, of life
I can`t be left behind
No one else, will do
I will take hold of you

Cause I need you, Jesus
To come to me rescue
Where else can I go
There`s no other name
By which I am saved
O, capture me with grace
I will follow you
I will follow you

My heart is yours for life
I need your hand in mine
No one else will do
I put my trust in you

Cause I need you, Jesus
To come to me rescue
Tell me Where else can I go
There`s no other name
By which I am saved
O' capture me with grace
I will follow you
I will follow you
I will follow you

This world has nothing for me
This world has nothing for me
This world has nothing for me
This world has nothing for me

Cause I need you, Jesus
To come to me rescue
Where else can I go
There`s no other name
By which I am saved
O, capture me with grace
I will follow you
I will trust in you

This world has nothing for me
I will trust in you

This world has nothing for me
I will follow you

Supporting Scriptures:
"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. "Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings." 1 Peter 5:6-9

"And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

"Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon." Isaiah 55:7

"Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,
“Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5

"Since you call on a Father who judges each man’s work impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear. For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect."
1 Peter 1:17-19

Still/Be Still and Know, by Don Moen

I just love to get alone and praise our Savior! Or to stand at the kitchen sink and let my voice rise to the heavens! This is one way to bring joy to your home and your own heart as you thank Him for His covering and protection through the day or night. When you are afraid, don't give way to it! Call upon the Lord in sincerity and faith! "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7

Using these you-tubes as a time of meditation or devotion would be a great way to start your day with praise and thanksgiving to God. Below the lyrics of each video post are some Scriptures. If you've never had/read a Bible before, get one, and open it to the Gospel of John. The gospel account is filled with first-hand accounts of Jesus' words and His world-changing 33 years on earth. Scholars generally accept that the Gospel of John was written between 50 and 85 A.D, within 50 years of Jesus' death and resurrection from the grave. Many who witnessed it were still alive at the time of John's writing.
The beginning of John, chapter 1, tells us who Jesus is, and chapter 3, v. 16, tells us the significance of Jesus and His purpose for the world. You can call upon Jesus to be your Lord. You can find rest for your soul in Christ when you come to Him in quietness and trust! You can know His power for a new life!

Lyrics:
Hide me now
Under Your wings
Cover me
Within Your mighty hand

CHORUS:
When the oceans rise
And the thunders roar
I Will soar with You
Above the storm
Father You are King
Over the flood
And I will be still
And know You are God

Find rest my soul
In Christ alone
Know His power
In quietness and trust

Be still and know
That I am God

I am the God
That healeth thee

Supporting Scriptures:

"Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead." Philippians 3: 8-11

"He said, “If you listen carefully to the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you.” Exodus 15:26

"This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: "In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it." Isaiah 30:15

Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”
Psalm 46:10

"He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday" Psalm 91:4-6

"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew [their] strength; they shall mount up (soar) with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; [and] they shall walk, and not faint." Isaiah 40:31

He Never Sleeps, by Don Moen

In Psalm 23, the Lord is called Jehovah Raah- The Lord my Shepherd.
Good parenting is but a reflection of how God watches over us. If your small child is getting ready to stick two bobby pins into a electrical outlet, as our son did when a toddler, we would rush to stop him. We may be paralyzed in our tracks or faster than we ever thought we could be! As for God, He is never alarmed or surprised by anything, and His response is always right and GOOD. After all, He is LORD! Would you rather trust your life and eternal outcome to your own fickle whims or to a gentle Shepherd?

"He tends his flock like a shepherd:
He gathers the lambs in his arms
and carries them close to his heart;
he gently leads those that have young." Isaiah 40:11

Our family has loved music from Don Moen for many years. You would be surprised how many of the simple praise choruses he has written. My plan is to share more of his songs in the months to come. This is memorable for children and adults alike.

Lyrics:
When you've prayed every prayer that you know how to pray.
Just remember the Lord will hear and the answer is on it's way.

Our God is able.
He is mighty.
He is faithful.

And He never sleeps, He never slumbers.
He never tires of hearing our prayer.
When we are weak He becomes stronger.
So rest in His love and cast all of your cares on Him.

Do you feel that the Lord has forgotten your need.
Just remember that God is always working in ways you cannot see.

Our God is able.
He is mighty.
He is faithful.

Supporting Scriptures:
"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:6-7

"I sought the LORD, and He answered me;
He delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to Him are radiant;
their faces are never covered with shame.
This poor man called, and the LORD heard him;
He saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him,
and He delivers them." Psalm 34:4-7

"He will not let your foot slip—
He who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep" Psalm 121:3-4

"O great and powerful God, whose name is the Lord Almighty, great are Your purposes and mighty are Your deeds. Your eyes are open to all the ways of men; You reward everyone according to his conduct and as his deeds deserve." Jeremiah 32:19
